I think that's "whom", not "who"

This is casual dialogue spoken by a high school girl. The formality of "whom" would be completely inappropriate.

I think that this is good for release.

I should mention one additional detail, though, in case you think it's important enough to add:

0016.png

> (paper slip) 事故死を<cut off>

Accidental death in the<cut off>

>> No.23327

>>23321 is it relevant to the story?

>> No.23328

>>23327

That's debatable.

I initially took it as an implication that Tsukiko manipulated events to cause one or more "accidental" deaths that left Youko without a family. It could just be a newspaper clipping on the event for her scrapbook, though. I think it would be good for English-language readers to have to grapple with potential implications themselves, but I'm not the one who has to do anything about it. I think that it's okay to release without it, if you don't want to add it.

No. "Can't see X for Y" is a well-established expression in English meaning "can't see X because of Y; because Y was in the way." It's best known in the expression "can't see the forest for the trees," an inability to see the bigger picture because of focusing on small details. Youko is describing a situation in which she can't see Ayumi's face because of the fencing mask Ayumi is wearing, a situation that matches the usage pattern.

It's true that it might be a bit archaic and folksy for the peppy, bubbly voice I've been trying to give Youko, and I'll try to watch for that in the future. But I defend the use of the expression on a denotative level.

One small nit that shouldn't block release if you don't want it to:
